The story of Wool Collective's wool soaps

You have chosen the right yarn for your knitting project. You have chosen a color and a fiber that feels good. You've been knitting for hours and you're finally done.

You just need the sink.

For many knitters, hand washing ranks roughly with the knitting test on the list of things you might want to skip. But most people have probably experienced how a wash can do wonders for both the fit, the evenness of the stitches and the feel of the wool.

There are many good tips for hand washing knitwear; use cold or hand-warm water, do not wring the clothes, dry them flat and so on. But there is also a lot to be gained by using the right soap.

Because a soap is not just a soap. It can clean and care for your clothes, but it can also affect both your skin and nature. At Wool Collective, we would like to help take care of all three things. And we are very proud of the product we can offer you with our new soaps.

Sustainable from start to finish

We had a number of requirements for both content, ability and production when we wanted to start producing wool soap, and fortunately our search brought us on the trail of Faroese Havdypp.

At Havdypp, we get handmade vegan soap blocks that are completely free of perfume and other harmful chemicals. In return, the soaps are added with lanolin, the natural fat in wool that cares for your woolen clothes and extends its life.

As far as possible, the soaps are made with local ingredients, and no plastic is used for packaging or shipping.

We have produced the soap in two variants: Neutral and Lemongrass. The scent of lemongrass is produced with essential oils, which have the funny effect that the soap can change color over time. The scent does not settle in the clothes, but gives the washing water a fresh and pleasant scent, which we absolutely love.

In other words, the soaps are both a delicious and sustainable experience. Exactly as we would like it, thanks to the collaboration with Havdypp.

Sea dip - much more than soap

A love of winter bathing inspired the two friends, Emma and Stine, to produce wellness products created from natural ingredients. They wanted to create products that could be taken with them for winter bathing. Hence the name, Havdypp, which means winter bathing in Faroese.

Havdypp's mission is to contribute to a sustainable existence, where there must be room for self-indulgence. That is why the soaps are vegan and handmade. They are produced without perfume, artificial colors and parabens. The packaging is as far as possible without the use of plastic, and is created from recyclable materials.

Havdypp has a rule that nothing should go to waste, which is why the soaps are not cut. This means that they have a rustic and uneven look. Should it happen that there are soap residues left in production, they are recycled into foot bath and no-waste soap.

The two owners live in the Faroe Islands, but Emma spends half of her time in Uganda. She has a burning desire to help the population to better living conditions. Therefore, part of the sales from Havdypp go to the locals in Uganda.

Wool Collective x Sea dip

There is no doubt that Stine and Emma are passionate. Not only about their work, but also nature and people. We are very happy and proud to collaborate with them, and we hope you will welcome the new soaps.

The soaps can be bought right here , where you will also find instructions for use.
