Balance Shawl from Lykkefanten
The shawl 'Balance' is inspired by the idea of using all the leftovers – both the small and the big – and ending up with a beautiful project that contains the memories of other projects, e.g. the baby blanket for the little new one in the family, the beautiful sweater that was worn out, the hat that was given as a Christmas present.
In other words, 'Balance' is a shawl version of a good "empty-the-fridge" dish - wonderful if you do it well, and completely impossible to repeat. The versions of Balance will be as different as different knitters and their stock.
The shawl is knitted from the middle of the neck and out and down towards the edge. The edge is worked sideways at the end.
Sizes
One size
Goal
The shawl is approximately 210 cm long and 55 cm wide in the middle after washing and stretching.
Yarn
Approx. 350-400 g assorted yarn scraps in many colors incl. a larger remainder (about 50 g/200 m) for the edge. The shawl is knitted from both thin and thicker yarn (it is knitted with 2 or 3 strands of the thinner yarn and just a single strand of the thick yarn), which is put together so that it matches the knitting strength on needles 5.5 mm.
Guiding sticks
Circular needle 5.5 mm (80/100 cm) and 5 mm (80/100 cm) for the edge
Knit strength
20 m (=5 "buds" in the pattern) = 10 cm on needle 5.5 mm with 1-3 strands of yarn
